Application and Admission

Admission to the doctoral Materials Science and Engineering Program (MSEP) requires a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). A Master of Science degree is not a prerequisite for application to the program.

To apply to the doctoral Materials Science & Engineering Program:
Apply online through the Graduate School. Make sure you send in all the required documents along with the application fee. The Graduate School phone number is (509) 335-1446.

The following is a check-list of documents you will need to submit:

  1. Application
  2. Statement of purpose
  3. Three letters of recommendation
  4. Student interest profile (online application)
  5. Transcripts (direct from the Registrar)
  6. Standardized test scores (GRE – and TOEFL or IELTS if not native English speaker)
  7. Curriculum vitae/resume

The Graduate School must receive ALL of the required documents in order for your application to be considered complete. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and the response time to an individual varies.
